PASSIVE SENTENCE / PASSIVE VOICE

TEORY
Passive voice is the sentence that is the subject subjected to the action of the verb , or phrase that describes what happens on the subject of the sentence , while the active sentence is a sentence that states the subject of the sentence do anything . Indonesian in passive sentences translated using the prefix di- or happened

DESCRIPTION
Things to consider in changing the active to the passive are :
Which can be used as a passive sentence is Verbal Sentence ( sentence predicate verb / V )
Verbal sentence that can be converted into Passive Voice ( passive voice ) is a sentence that has the object of patients .
Active changes to passive or vice versa does not change the meaning of a sentence . Iti changes occur only on the structure of the sentence alone .
 Feature sentence passive / passive voice is to be + V3 and said by ( the word is not a necessary condition in the passive voice )
 
 
 
 


Pattern formula for all active - passive tenses
So much for short sentences characteristic of passive / passive voice apart by + O is
 
Ø  FORM : BE SUBJECT + + THE PAST PARTICIPLE ( V3 )

Ø   Be in the passive voice Tense determine the type of sentence .
Ø   The present tense ( am , is , are )
Ø   The past tense ( was , were )
Ø   infinitive ( be)
Ø   -ing form ( being)
Ø   the past participle ( been )
PROBLEM EXAMPLE 

1.    A : Look! The girl is crying. What happened to her just now?

B : While playing with her brother, she ____

a. kicks                d. was kicking

b. kicked                e. was kicked

c. will kick

    Jawaban : E (simple past: S + was/were + V3)

2.    A : Do you know the result of the test?

B : Not yet. The announcement ____ twice.

a. was postponed            d. has to be postponed

b. was being postponed        e. has been postponed

c. will be postponed

    Jawaban : A (konteks kalimat adalah simple past)
 
Ø  Active sentense

1.      Active : Someone drives the car  everyday
       Passive : The car  is driven everyday
      (simple present tense)

2.      Active   :  A thief stole ann’s purse
Passive : Ann’s purse was stolen by a thief
(past tense)

3.      Active  : A dog bit jogger
Passive : jogger was bitten by a dog
             (past tense)

4.      Active  : Alexander Graham Bell invented in the telephone
Passive : The telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell
(past tense)
5.      Active  : I’am playing football
Passive : football playing  by me
(present tense)

6.      Active  : people grow rice in indonesia
Passive : Rice is grown by people in indonesia
(present tense)

7.      Active   : the news surprises dimas 
Passive  : dimas  is surprised by the news
(present tense)

8.      Active   :  ade has mailed the letter 
Passive  : the letter has been mailed by ade
(present perfect tense)

9.      Active   : Parlindungan will send the package
Passive : The package will be send by Parlindungan (Future Tense)
10.  Active    : He did not break the window
Passive  : The window was not broken by him  (Past tense )


Ø  Passive sentence

1.      Passive   :  They are met by him everyday 
Active    :  He meets them everyday
(simple present tense)

2.      Passive   :  This plant is watered by her every two days
Active    :  She waters this plants every two days
(simple present tense)

3.      Passive   :  A banana is eaten by Mr .ade
Active    : Mr.ade eats a banana
(present tense)

4.      Passive   : Twice a month , the room is cleaned by Ade  
Active    : Twice a month , Ade cleans the room
(simple present)

5.      Passive   : Right now , the floor  is being cleaned by Ade
Active    : Right now , Ade is cleaning the floor
(present continous)

6.      Passive   :  The radio was repaired by Ade
Active    :  Ade repaired the radio
(simple past)
7.      Passive   : The customer was being helped by the security when the thief came into the bank
Active    : The security was helping the customer when the thief came into the bank
(past continous)

8.      Passive  : That cemetery has been visited by many peoples   
Active   : Many peoples have visited that cemetery
(Present perfect)

9.      Passive   : Recently , the job has been being done by ade    
Active    :  Recently , ade has been doing the job
(present perfect continous)

10.  Passive   : Many computers had been repaired by Ade before he received his lecense
active     : Ade had repaired many computers before he received his license
(Past Perfect)
